While preparing myself to write this week’s newsletter, I felt like doing something a little bit different…

Because, as much as I want you to get something out of my newsletters – like being inspired, getting an insight, or even scheduling one small action to do in the coming week…

I know it’s also important for you to know a little bit more about me, what brought me to this new chapter of my life in which I’d love

To inspire, support and empower professional women in mid-level management to take action toward that “better life/career” they dream of, and make it a REALITY!

And my vision is to do “just that” using a technique called Coaching…

A technique that, in a past newsletter, I defined as a “professional and personal development technique that is all about us, but doesn’t leave us on our own, with our thoughts going round in circle in our head!”…

But that I also view as a form of “self-care” (like massages, reflexology, reiki and other wellness treatments) for our thoughts…

And if you’re wondering where that metaphor comes from… here it is:

When my muscles are really tightly knotted, I can feel the massage therapist’s hands slowly loosening the knots and, from time to time, it feels like a knot gets partly undone… and that’s such a good feeling – to have the physical sensation of my muscles slowly getting back into their normal shape!!!

Well, I often have a similar sensation when having a coaching conversation… I start the conversation with tangled thoughts in my head. Then, while talking (and hearing what I’m saying), feelings and sensations get slowly loosened, making space for some clarity to show up in my mind! And sometimes it feels like a big “untangle” is happening (that’s more than clarity, that’s an idea showing up! – a real lightbulb moment!). When this happens, then I know what I want to do overall, even if I need to fine-tune and figure out how to really make it happen!!!

But even if my muscles don’t feel tense, I still like to get one of these self-care, wellbeing treatments… because I feel I’m looking after myself, my body, my wellbeing… and also because I really like the ambiance that so many of these wellbeing places have! It’s outside of my day-to-day reality… a little like in a dream… and that’s a great source of inspiration for me!

And again, I like to do the same with my thoughts… to look after them, to keep them developing and expanding… And so I love having a coaching conversation to explore an idea, to be able to talk about it out loud, to hear its “echo” through my coach… Like a self-care treatment, that coaching conversation takes me outside of my day-to-day… and is another great source of inspiration!

And now I’m curious: How do you do “self-care” for your thoughts?

Because… can you imagine what you could GAIN if you could “untangle” your thoughts: inspiration, ideas, actions, progress…?
