Happy Monday, Christelle!

What’s going well for you today, this week, this month, this year?

I’m curious… what’s the first answer coming up to your mind?

This is a question I heard in a coaching webinar I attended last year, where the presenter suggested to replace the standard “How are you?” by “What’s going well for you?”.

But why?

Because, instead of getting the very standard answer “Fine, thanks. And you?”, this question should help the other person “awaken” to the positives going on in their life right now… which we so often forget about while getting on with our life!

But it’s also interesting to watch and listen to the other person responding… When I ask this question in some coaching sessions, I noticed that:

  • Yes, sometimes, my client will stop, reflect, and notice the positives;
  • But there are times when the person responds in the “usual way” – as if I had asked “How are you?”;
  • And, at other times, the person seems a little bit “confused” by the question… and simply starts talking about what it is they want to explore in the coaching session…

So, what do you see when you ask your family, your friends, your colleagues, your clients: “What’s going well for you today?”?

And what would YOU say if you were asked this question?

Fun fact: Did you know that “How are you?” are the 3 most useless words in the world of communication? – according to this article

Empowering yourself - starting with holding yourself accountable…

  • How did you get on with last week’s questions?
  • Did you like your answers… or not?
  • Do you feel like you’re starting to progress on one of your goals, one little step in front of another little step?
  • Or do you feel like you did a little step on one goal, then a little step on another goal?
  • But, actually – HOW do you want to progress?
