Christelle,

How does it feel to be able to use your own words to describe how you feel when you think you have “imposter syndrome”? Personally, I feel a little bit better, in a way… because now it’s really about ME and how I deal with challenges (rather than having an illness for which I need a “standard” prescription by a specialist)…

Instant Coaching-Infused Conversation

Reminder - Topic of this Instant Coaching-Infused Conversation: the “Imposter Syndrome”!

And for our 2nd session together, let’s look at: now that’re using your own words to describe how you feel in that specific situation - what can you do when you feel like that?

Now, take 20 minutes (over a cup of tea or a coffee, for example) to reflect, using the self-reflective questions below to help you along the way:

  • Go back to that ONE situation you thought of during last week’s conversation, and to your own description of how you felt (without using “imposter syndrome”).
  • Now pick ONE of the sensations you identified (the one that comes to your mind first), and think of it on its own (ignoring the context of the situation).
  • On a scale of 0 to 10 (with 0 being “you’re absolutely down” and 10 “you’re doing great”), what number would you give to that sensation?
  • Now, imagine what it is like to be at the number above? What would have changed in that sensation? – and we’re talking small changes here!
  • And now, what could you do to make that change a reality? Don’t hesitate to do a brain dump, including actions you don’t like, or don’t think would be very effective…
  • You know what? Let’s go a little deeper… You can come up with a few other options… even if they seem unrealistic!
  • Out of this list you just compiled, what ONE action you’re willing to try next time you have that sensation?
  • Do the same for the 2 other sensations you identified last week…
  • “Conclusion”: What are 3 actions you’re willing to take next time you think you have “imposter syndrome”?

>>>> So, what’s ONE action you’re COMMITTING to do THIS WEEK following this Instant Coaching-Infused Conversation session? (even a small action like scheduling a task in your calendar!)

How would you feel if you could actually have this type of conversation with someone (instead of reflecting on your own, with your thoughts probably ending up going around in circle in your head) so that you could really look into how to start moving forward with your current challenge?

Interested? Then, let’s talk about it!
