Christelle!

Do you ever get pissed off because you keep postponing something?

I do.

But here’s something I’ve started noticing this year:

Sometimes, the thing I was annoyed with myself for postponing… actually worked out rather well!

Like postponing booking my next temporary accommodation - and then learning that I’d be able to move into my new home a couple of weeks earlier than planned. Good thing I hadn’t booked anything yet. The dates would have been wrong!

Or delaying renting a car to visit family - only to have to reschedule the visit because of some last-minute changes.

And then there was the furniture I took forever to choose… By the time I was finally ready to order it, the price had gone down!

Of course, it doesn’t always work out that way!

Sometimes postponing something creates more hassle.

Sometimes it makes absolutely no difference.

But every now and then, it unexpectedly works in our favour!

And I’m realising that those are the occasions I don’t necessarily notice - I’m much quicker to see what went wrong because I waited than to notice what happened to go right!

A question for you

Can you think of a time when postponing something unexpectedly worked in your favour?

Even something tiny.

Something you were annoyed with yourself for not doing sooner… only to discover later that the delay actually saved you some trouble!

And what happens when you look at it that way?

Nothing to do this time

No small step this week.

No new habit to create.

No reminder to set.

If you’ve just remembered one of those occasions, simply enjoy it.

Maybe even enjoy being able to say:

“Good thing I didn’t do that earlier!”

And then carry on with your day. 😊

To occasionally being glad we procrastinated!
