Christelle,

Not long ago, I thought back to one of my first speaking invitations as a newly certified coach.

It was during International Coaching Week, at an event organised by the International Coaching Federation (a major player in the coaching world!).

My first reaction was immediate:

Who am I to speak there, when so many others were more experienced and more qualified?

Doubt showed up straight away!!!

A shift in perspective

Today, on International Imposter Syndrome Awareness Day, I’m reminded of how familiar that feeling can be!

At the time, what helped wasn’t getting rid of the doubt.

It was shifting my focus: The topic was coaching in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) industries. And I had spent my entire career in construction (a STEM field)!

So instead of trying to prove myself as a coach, I chose to show up through what I already knew!

My experience. My perspective. My understanding of the environment.

The doubt didn’t disappear.

But it stopped being the centre of the conversation (that was happening in my head)!

And that changed everything!!!

Doubt doesn’t always mean you’re not ready.

Sometimes, it simply means you’re stepping into something new.

A question to sit with

What if the doubt you’re feeling right now is not a signal to stop…

… but a sign that you’re stepping into something that matters?

One simple move

Pick one thing you’ve been holding back on because you don’t feel fully ready (even if it’s the “smallest / easiest” you can find!) … and do it!:

Send the email. Share the idea. Say yes to the conversation…

Do it before you feel confident.

Let the confidence build afterwards.

My invitation to you

If doubt is slowing you down, I offer 30-minute conversations to explore whether working together would be the right next step.

You can schedule a conversation here if you’d like.

To showing up anyway!

Christelle
