Happy Monday, Christelle!
A short pause
“I don’t have time for what I really want to do because…”
- Because the house is a mess and it needs a proper clean this weekend.
- Because I need to clear my inbox before I can focus on my own work.
- Because I should review that colleague’s report so they can send it to the client.
Sometimes what feels heavy isn’t the “Urgent”,
It’s the “Habitual”.
A clear lens
So many capable people (like you?) too often take responsibility automatically.
We see something that needs doing, and we do it.
We anticipate what might go wrong, and we prevent it.
We smooth things out before anyone asks.
I realised I had fallen into a quiet pattern of completing repeated, habitual tasks before turning to what actually mattered most.
By the time I reached my real priorities, my energy was lower… and I didn’t have the depth I wanted to bring anymore!
It was more draining than I expected.
So I started to experiment with something different:
Putting my priorities first (the ones that move me in the direction I truly want to go).
Letting a little mess exist.
Allowing some emails to wait.
Trusting that someone else can take care of certain things.
It’s still a work in progress.
But even small shifts are changing how my days feel!
A few questions to reflect
What are you currently holding because “someone has to”?
What do you take on by default, without checking whether it’s truly yours?
And what might happen if you didn’t carry it alone… or at all?
One small step
Name one responsibility you could pause, share, or put down this week (even briefly).
Notice what becomes possible when your energy isn’t spread quite so thin.
And that’s it – not doing more, just noticing.
A gentle bridge
If this reflection resonates with you, whether because you feel stretched, or simply because you’re curious about approaching things differently, we can talk!
I offer 30-minute conversations to explore what you’re looking for right now and whether working together might be a good next step for you: just schedule a call here!
To steadier ground,
Christelle
