Hi Christelle,
A short pause
We often assume that progress comes from adding something new.
A new goal.
A new habit.
Another commitment.
But sometimes, progress starts elsewhere.
A clear lens
Recently, in a workshop, I invited participants to think about who or what they might add to their “expedition team” (their personal Board of Directors) to help them move toward a goal they’d been struggling with.
What surprised me was how many answers weren’t about adding at all.
They were about removing.
Removing the mental or physical clutter around them.
Removing the voices that constantly say “no”.
It was a quiet reminder of something we don’t hear very often:
sometimes the most supportive move is to clear space first.
We’re used to setting new goals at the start of the year.
To adding more to days that are already full.
But what if, instead, we began by letting go of what isn’t helping - or is quietly slowing us down?
I noticed this in my own work too.
Rather than pushing myself to show up on LinkedIn every day, I chose to remove that pressure.
Most weeks, three times is enough.
That small decision changed how it feels to show up at all.
A few questions to reflect
What feels slightly unnecessary right now?
What takes more energy than it gives back?
And if one small thing were removed - even temporarily -
what might feel a little lighter?
One small step
Choose one task, expectation, or pressure you won’t carry this week.
Notice what changes when it’s no longer there.
That’s enough for today.
A gentle bridge
If you’re noticing that what needs removing isn’t just a task, but a pattern, a doubt, or a decision you’ve been holding alone, it can help to talk it through:
Between February 4 and February 13, I’m offering a limited number of free Sample Coffee-Break Coaching sessions - short, focused conversations (20 minutes) designed to help you regain clarity when things feel crowded or stuck.
If you’d like to see what these sessions involve, you’re welcome to take a look here.
And if you’d prefer a more spacious conversation to explore whether working together could be a good fit,
you’re also welcome to schedule a 30-minute conversation with me here.
Two simple ways to explore support,
there if and when you want them.
To a “lighter” you,
Christelle
